What is a decent external microphone to use with a Canon vixia HV30?

I have a Canon Vixia HV30 and use it to record singing / guitar playing. Unfortunately, I get a much clearer sound when singing into my computer's condenser microphone. I am interested in buying a microphone so I am able to record with little background noise. Money is not really a concern but there is no need for a professional microphone, just a good consumer microphone. What would you suggest?

Is a canon vixia HF R20 suitable for creative filmmaking?

I'm planning on buying a new camcorder, the Canon VIXIA HF R20. I'm interesting in short filmmaking (and heck, maybe not-so-short filmmaking) and the question arises, would this be a good camcorder to use? From tests I've seen, it looks good, but I want to get some other input.

P.S. I do have an external microphone, a ZOOM H2 recorder, and I use Sony Vegas Pro 10 for editing.

What are the suggested/recommended settings for filming with a canon vixia HF200 HD digital camcorder?

I recently purchased the Canon Vixia HF200 digital camcorder. What can i do, as far as changing settings go, to optimize the quality and get the best out of my new camcorder... Also any tips such as low-light filming suggestions and stuff like that would be immensely helpful.
I will be importing to a mac computer by the way.
